NOT JUST ABOUT BACKS
C
hiropractic is all about function. It’s about reducing any interference to the body’s ability to function at its best. Much of what we do is adjust the spine to correct subluxations (vertebral segments that are restricted, misaligned and causing nerve interference). We also adjust subluxations in knees, ankles, toes, hips, fingers, elbows, shoulders, wrists, TMJ (jaw) and in fact any joint in the body that is functioning less than at its best.

You might have a tennis elbow type of condition because you have a subluxation in the lower neck causing irritation to nerve that supplies the muscles at the elbow. This causes imbalance in the elbow muscles so they become inflamed and overworked from normal usage. This may also cause the elbow joint to become subluxated or jammed. In this situation we may have to adjust the subluxation in the neck to normalise nerve flow to the elbow and also adjust the elbow to ensure proper alignment and function.

Spraining your ankle often leaves one or more joints in the foot or ankle slightly misaligned. Ankle sprains that don’t seem to heal or that keep re-spraining are often out of balance and need to be adjusted.

We look after many painful knees simply by adjusting the lower back or pelvis. A subluxation in the pelvis can cause a patella (knee cap) to not track properly, becoming inflamed and painful. The knee itself may need to be adjusted at one of its two joints. We’ll often prescribe some exercises to help restore the muscular support.

Carpal tunnel, clicking painful jaws, bunions, shoulder problems and in fact problems in any joint are helped with chiropractic care every day.

Remember to always mention to us anything that might be going on with your health no matter how unrelated it may seem. It may well influence how we go about your chiropractic care and we just may be able to help.

Renewing her driver’s licence, a lady had her photo taken and waited for her new card. Finally, her name was called-she went to the counter. “Good grief,” she said. My picture is hideous. It looks nothing like me!” The woman behind her in line plucked it out of her hand. “That’s because it’s mine!”

In a small country in the Himalayas called Bhutan the number one government policy is: Gross National Happiness! (GNH). It serves as a unifying vision for their five year planning process that guides the economic and development plans of their country.
Unlike conventional models that emphasis economic growth as the ultimate objective, the concept of GNH is based on the premise that true development of human society takes place when the well being of their people is more relevant and important than material consumption.

Renovation Update
We have finally begun our renovations. The improvements to the clinic building and to parking will be well worth the wait. Unfortunately after a few days of very productive activity we hit an unexpected delay and nothing has happened for a couple of weeks. Hopefully as you read this work is underway again. During the renovations we are aiming to have minimal disruption to parking and our usual routines. If on occasion the parking area is blocked by a truck or some building activity then you may have to park outside the premises for that visit. The builder is very conscious of minimising any inconvenience and will make any changes to parking as clear as possible.

Sign on the door of a hardware store reads:
“Shoes required, because you might hurt yourself. Shirt required, because you’re not as good-looking as you think!”

A marine biologist was telling his friends about some of his research into whales. “Some whales can communicate at a distance of 500kms.” he said. “What the heck would one whale say to another 500kms away?” asked his sarcastic friend. “Well, I’m not really sure,” the expert said. “But it sounds something like, ‘Can you hear me now?’”

By the age of 85, men will have lost about 6cm from their height, and women will be approx. 9cm shorter. Another ageing inevitability: our ears continue to grow .025cm per year throughout our lives!

Immune Function
Chiropractic recognises the inherent ability of the human body to regulate its internal mechanisms and adjust to the many physical, chemical and emotional stresses that confront us in every day life.

The father of a very wealthy family took his son on a holiday in the country to show his son how poor people live. They spent a couple of days & nights on the farm of what was considered a very poor family.
On their return trip the father asked his son, “How was the trip, son?”
“It was great, Dad!”
“And tell me, what did you learn from our holiday about how poor people live?”
“Oh! I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our yard, and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have a sky full of stars. We have a small backyard and they have fields that go forever. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, and they grow their own. We have walls around us to protect us, and they have friends to protect them.”
The boy’s father was speechless!
“I had a great holiday Dad & thanks for showing me how poor we are!”
